Baidu Apollo's Functional Safety Gains International Authoritative Recognition from SGS

Recently, SGS, an internationally recognized testing, inspection, and certification organization, awarded Baidu Apollo's self-developed AutoSAR software framework product, VOS SYS, with the ISO 26262:2018 Functional Safety ASIL D certification. This certification signifies that the functional safety level of Apollo's hardware and software system solution has been further improved and has received international authoritative recognition.

This certification project was carried out under the guidance of SGS's Functional Safety Center, strictly adhering to the requirements of ISO 26262:2018 standards. Based on the company's existing product development processes and quality management systems, it achieved a functional safety development and management approach that spans the entire lifecycle of the software product, including functional safety management, SEooC, software development, and supporting processes.

The ISO 26262 functional safety standard for road vehicles aims to enhance the functional safety of automotive electronic/electrical products. Since the release of the first edition in 2011 and the update to the second edition in 2018, the standard has been in practice in the automotive industry for over ten years and holds internationally recognized authoritative status. It provides significant assistance for enterprises to improve functional safety levels and is a golden key for enhancing product competitiveness, building a safety reputation, and gaining consumer trust. Apollo is closely following the evolving standards, and through this functional safety product certification, it will further strengthen Apollo's advantages in the industry and help Apollo expand its domestic and international markets.
